The Municipality of Vergiate will officially confer the keys to the city to Mario da Corgeno , an artist and sculptor born and raised in the small hamlet overlooking Lake Comabbio. The ceremony will be held on Saturday 7 June at 10:00 in his home atelier in Via Broli, 3, in Corgeno.
It will be an important moment to remember the deep bond that unites the internationally renowned artist with his territory .
A deep connection with Vergiate and the local cultureBorn and raised in the hamlet of Corgeno, Mario has maintained a strong bond with his homeland throughout his life . Although his sculptures have been exhibited all over the world, the artist has always chosen to live and work near Lake Comabbio. The delivery of the keys therefore represents an institutional recognition of his artistic contribution , but also of his deep-rooted presence in the territory of Vergiate .

At the end of the ceremony, you can visit the exhibition Il bene alla vita: l'amore, la bellezza e la dolore , curated by the cultural association Il Borgo di Lucio Fontana . The exhibition will remain open from 7 to 29 June inside the atelier house of Mario da Corgeno and will offer the public a selection of his most significant works.
A place of art that can also be reached on footMario da Corgeno's atelier house is located in an easily accessible position, very close to the cycle/pedestrian path of Lake Comabbio . Those who want to participate in the event and visit the exhibition can therefore leave the car at home and enjoy a nice walk on foot or by bicycle.
